Back to V8333 (Claire Shaeffer jacket)
*warning: picture heavy post* (I hope it comes out ok….)
So, I have not stopped working on V8333, the Claire Shaeffer jacket…I just haven’t been posting progress, etc. Well, I am at the stage where the muslin “fits” and it was time to thread trace the pattern pieces on the fashion fabric then cut (GASP!). So this is where I freaked out a bit…cutting into fashion fabric that I bought in Europe that cannot be found locally IF I make an error and/or need more. Lovely, huh? Well, this week..I cut. I have provided pictures to show you my progress and difficulty in seeing the yellow, yes, yellow marks on the fabric because I had to be oh so brilliant and choose PLAID! What the hell is wrong with me?! Couture sewing AND plaid? Of course the off white cotton basting thread our instructor gave us to use does not show up well enough so I am using Aurofil in Dayglo Orange. Yes, limited fabric (from England), plaid, can’t see yellow marks, and can’t use basting thread. Nice job, P, nice job.

I still haven't cut the wool. I'm too scared. I'm afraid it will fray. I am hoping to be there tomorrow. I have the interfacing traced out and tonight I'll overlap the darts and baste them to the fabric.
Nice to see your helpers are there to inspect your every move
Great pictures!
Yeah for more Pudgy Buddha cat!
I admire your tenacity to keep going with all that help! I only have three, and they don't all "help" at the same time. Wow! You even have every color palette represented. I'm sure the jacket will turn out beautifully, in spite of the cuties.
I'm right there with you on the not cutting wool. A few years ago I purchased my family tartan. This piece of fabric is one of the last 56" mill ends from the weaver in Scotland. The mill had decided to stop weaving the 56" from now on (and only weave the 28").
I purchased it from the mill and had it imported.
I want to make a skirt, but this beautiful fabric has been folded, in a plastic cover, in my dining room for two years because I am too afraid to cut it.
