Tee Pattern – COMPLETED!

Posted by Paulette on Feb 14, 2009 in Sewing |

So, I have been lax a couple days because since I posted about the Jennifer Sterns Tee pattern, I have made the muslin (green fabric) and then made a “real” one (black and white). The black and white fabric is from Textile Studios (don’t recall when I bought it), has a beautiful drape and is SO soft!! I took the pattern and the finished top to show the owner of the local fabric store and she loved it. I have finally convinced her to carry this pattern!!! So, me and my big mouth said, “I would let you use this one as a store sample but since you don’t have this fabric, I’ll make another one out of the jersey you have in stock, ok?” The whole time she is smiling at me (knowing what I am going to say) and of course accepts my offer! I can be so dumb sometimes….

Anyway, back to The Tee….

Fabric: cotton or rayon jersey (I can’t remember!)
Pattern Description:
Fitted tee with unique seam detail above the bust. Short sleeve, 3/4 length sleeve or sleeveless option and shirt tail hem.
Pattern Sizing:
All sizes (xs-xxxl) I cut out and sewed up a Medium.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes.

Were the instructions easy to follow?

Yes, it was quite refreshing to have such nicely written instructions!!

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I loved it for its unique seaming detail. It was easy to put together….I cut it out one night and serged it the next.

Fabric Used:
Cotton or rayon jersey in black and white.

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:
I made no alterations to the medium size. I chose to do 3/4 sleeves and instead of following the instructions on how to hem the bottom or sleeves
and the neck facing, I serged them all and then turned them under and hand stitched in place.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, as noted above, I am already cutting out the next two!! My recommendation to others is to get my local fabric store to carry the pattern!!

Conclusion:
Love this shirt!!!

Now that this is done, I need to cut out the stretch lace from Gorgeous Fabrics and yes, make another one!! Love this design so must have MORE!! I am even going to steal Ann’s idea and not line the top patter pieces so you can see thru the lace…should be pretty!!

After that, I will be tackling a 2 piece swimsuit from KWIKSEW…this is all Dawn’s fault at Two On Two Off. Check our her blog sometime…she does fabulous work and looks AWESOME in a bikini – well, actually, everything she makes!

Oh yea…Happy Valentine’s Day!!
