Block of the Month….
My blocks are done! I chose to do two colorways this year so will be playing in turquoise and chocolate batiks along with some fancy cottons and silks with gold, gray, cream, silver, and blue. I also talked my friend into taking the Block of the Month with me as she is getting into quilting. I thought this would be a good start for her. We spent last Saturday putting her block together, me showing her what she needed to do so that I had time to think about how I wanted to put mine together.
On the “fancy fabrics” block, I put a piece of grosgrain ribbon across the center to add a bit extra. You cannot see it on the black but the ribbon is there. We have Block of the Month every 3rd Saturday of the month so I am already excited to show off the little differences in mine!! On the batiks, I change the center square to just give it something a bit extra. As you watch me progress, you’ll see how I make either construction changes or fabric changes when I put mine together. Now if I would just take the time to put my Block of the Month blocks into quilts from the last 2 years, I’d be much happier!
By the way, these blocks are called “Dimensional Bow Ties” and are made using Marti Michelle template set A.
Nice color choices, I’m playing around with an outfit in the same color scheme. And may I say, nice blocks too.
Thanks for the comments sewducky, I am looking forward to getting further along on these quilts.
