| You Act Like You Are 30 Years Old |
You are a thirty-something at heart. You’ve had a taste of success and true love, but you want more! You’re responsible, wise, and have enough experience to understand a lot of the world.
You’re at the point in your life where you understand yourself pretty well. You are figuring out what you want… and how to get it!
So I take this to mean that I know how to get the fabric I want, the machine I want and find the time to sew!!!

So, I have been lax a couple days because since I posted about the Jennifer Sterns Tee pattern, I have made the muslin (green fabric) and then made a “real” one (black and white). The black and white fabric is from Textile Studios (don’t recall when I bought it), has a beautiful drape and is SO soft!! I took the pattern and the finished top to show the owner of the local fabric store and she loved it. I have finally convinced her to carry this pattern!!! So, me and my big mouth said, “I would let you use this one as a store sample but since you don’t have this fabric, I’ll make another one out of the jersey you have in stock, ok?” The whole time she is smiling at me (knowing what I am going to say) and of course accepts my offer! I can be so dumb sometimes….
Anyway, back to The Tee….
| Fabric: cotton or rayon jersey (I can’t remember!) |
|
Pattern Description: Fitted tee with unique seam detail above the bust. Short sleeve, 3/4 length sleeve or sleeveless option and shirt tail hem. Pattern Sizing: All sizes (xs-xxxl) I cut out and sewed up a Medium.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, it was quite refreshing to have such nicely written instructions!!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved it for its unique seaming detail. It was easy to put together….I cut it out one night and serged it the next.
Fabric Used: Cotton or rayon jersey in black and white.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I made no alterations to the medium size. I chose to do 3/4 sleeves and instead of following the instructions on how to hem the bottom or sleeves and the neck facing, I serged them all and then turned them under and hand stitched in place.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, as noted above, I am already cutting out the next two!! My recommendation to others is to get my local fabric store to carry the pattern!!
Conclusion: Love this shirt!!! |
Now that this is done, I need to cut out the stretch lace from Gorgeous Fabrics and yes, make another one!! Love this design so must have MORE!! I am even going to steal Ann’s idea and not line the top patter pieces so you can see thru the lace…should be pretty!!
After that, I will be tackling a 2 piece swimsuit from KWIKSEW…this is all Dawn’s fault at Two On Two Off. Check our her blog sometime…she does fabulous work and looks AWESOME in a bikini – well, actually, everything she makes!
Oh yea…Happy Valentine’s Day!!

I am finally starting on the J Stern Designs pattern: The Tee. I bought it a few months ago after reading some reviews on Pattern Review and after reading/seeing the lovely results from Ann at Gorgeous Things. I did all my tracing last night and decided I’m a medium. I’ll cut out the muslin and see where it goes from there. If you get a chance, check out the pattern, I think you’ll have to have it….

My blocks are done! I chose to do two colorways this year so will be playing in turquoise and chocolate batiks along with some fancy cottons and silks with gold, gray, cream, silver, and blue. I also talked my friend into taking the Block of the Month with me as she is getting into quilting. I thought this would be a good start for her. We spent last Saturday putting her block together, me showing her what she needed to do so that I had time to think about how I wanted to put mine together.
On the “fancy fabrics” block, I put a piece of grosgrain ribbon across the center to add a bit extra. You cannot see it on the black but the ribbon is there. We have Block of the Month every 3rd Saturday of the month so I am already excited to show off the little differences in mine!! On the batiks, I change the center square to just give it something a bit extra. As you watch me progress, you’ll see how I make either construction changes or fabric changes when I put mine together. Now if I would just take the time to put my Block of the Month blocks into quilts from the last 2 years, I’d be much happier!
By the way, these blocks are called “Dimensional Bow Ties” and are made using Marti Michelle template set A.
